Students will learn basic safety in the Welding shop, welding and cutting processes. Students also learn physical welding theory, properties of metals, heat treatment, and electrical principals. They learn basic weld joints, type of weld joints, and welding positions. Students in this course will learn SMAW welding and welding safety. Students learn Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Principles, SMAW current and polarity. Also covers Gas Metal Arc Welding(GMAW). methods for piercing, slotting, squaring, beveling metals. Students will learn how to connect welding current and setup arc welding equipment. Students will learn how to identify electrode characteristics and different types of filler metals. Welding Symbols, inspecting and testing welds.
